President Obama's proposed federal budget for the federal government's fiscal year 2012, released in early February 2011, proposes federal research and development (R&D) investments to contribute to the Administration goals of US leadership in science and technology, innovation and jobs creation for the US economy, a clean energy future, addressing the challenge of climate change, implementing health care reform for a healthier American people, and improving national security. The presentation will discuss highlights of R&D in the 2012 budget, and prospects for supporting legislation and policies to harness science and technology for progress toward important national challenges.
