Teaching excellence can now be documented in ways that focus on whether pedagogy aligns with what is known about how people learn, and what supports all students’ learning. This presentation will explore how institutional and disciplinary cultures, and policymaking at state and national levels might be shifted so that faculty embrace assessments of teaching that parallel the rigor of assessment of their scholarship, and institutional reward structures reflect the centrality of the teaching role.
