Developing precision cancer therapies targeted to specific genomic alterations present in a patient's tumor requires creating a comprehensive catalogue of the molecular alterations that occur in the formation of tumors. Gathering a commons of data for this purpose is one of the goals of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC). ICGC projects will produce over 15 PB of data. The management and analysis of this data creates many computer science and computational biology challenges.
