By professional temperament, librarians are overwhelmingly supportive of the general concept of open access. That support has taken a variety of forms, including support for specific legislative options and for institutional mandates. As librarians’ understanding of the nuances of open access initiatives expands, so will their support for a variety of strategic approaches.
