Collaborative Efforts and Best Practices as It Relates to Aboriginal People’s Health

Dr. Henderson will situate the current United States context as it relates to Aboriginal People's Health. He will also highlight the outcomes of his highly collaborative efforts in addressing Native health inequities and how the results of the widely-noted randomized clinical trial to prevent cardiovascular disease among high-risk American Indians, the Stop Atherosclerosis in Native Diabetics Study (SANDS), has contributed to shifting national standards for the care of persons with type 2 diabetes.He will conclude by providing examples of lessons learned underscoring, for example, the importance of situating clinical practice within a community context.
