DASER or DC Art Science Evening Rendezvous are monthly cross disciplinary salons in Washington DC co-organized by Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences and Leonardo/ISAST. The purpose of the DASER series of event is to provide a snap shot of creative activity in the region that is happening at the intersection between disciplines and to increase the familiarity of cross-disciplinary exchanges in our community. DASER also provides a social opportunity for networking with the hope that casual and/or formal collaboration might form. This case study will look at some of the topics that have been addressed that include: barriers to cross disciplinary exchanges, funding, art as tool to science vs. art as cognitive tool, and practical problem solving needs that cross disciplinary inspiration might address.
