Room 311 (Hynes Convention Center)
Since its inception over 40 years ago as a research & development lab dedicated to the creation of learning experiences for the public, the Exploratorium has been shaped by the cultures of both art and science. Through a grant from the National Science Foundation for Art as a Way of Knowing the Exploratorium convened professionals from the fields of art, science and education to discuss the role of art in interdisciplinary learning. McDougall, the grant's P.I., will share the findings from this project and describe how the Exploratorium has refocused its work to advance art as a form of inquiry that deepens public understanding and appreciation of the natural & social worlds.
