Society needs to be better informed about science. Part of the solution is for scientists to speak up, delivering a clearer message to policy makers, the public, and the media. Yet, some scientists raise important questions: Is this part of a scientist's job? Where do you cross the line into advocacy? Are the risks worth the rewards? This presentation will include perspectives and advice from communications training work with a wide range of scientists. It will conclude with advice on how to be an agent of change: ten steps to success.
