Human population factors (such as growth, movement, density and resource consumption) are main drivers and multipliers of ecosystem degradation. The US plays a major role within the global context, representing 1/20th of the world’s population, yet consuming over 1/4 of most natural resources. The US also bears the highest population growth rate among industrialized nations. Evidence will be presented on the combined impact of these factors on environmental resources and women’s lives.
