5748 What Cognitive Research Tells Us About Engaging Today's Undergraduate Students

Sunday, February 19, 2012: 8:30 AM
Room 206-207 (VCC West Building)
Mary Pat Wenderoth , University of Washington, Seattle, WA
This session will examine questions such as: Who are today’s undergraduates? How do they learn best? How can findings from cognitive and learning research be employed to optimize learning? Participants will actively engage with issues such as using tests as ways to both measure and promote increased learning and using pacing techniques during lectures to vary teaching in ways that facilitate learning by a broader spectrum of students.
