Science communication in China has undergone a history of 50 years, and has accumulated some valuable experiences. But today, it is facing a new challenge, which is also a challenge of the era, and this is the green issues. As a major player in the country’s science communication, China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) has come up with many initiatives and launched many activities in recent years to spread the conceptions of green and low-carbon life. In this process, “saving energy and resources, protecting ecological environment, and ensuring safety and health” has been firmly established as the theme of efforts in promoting the scientific literacy for all. This presentation shows how the green-related work of science communication is being carried out in China; And how the conceptions, approaches and technologies of “green and low-carbon life” are being communicated to the general public. It also provides some suggestions for further dialogue and exchange amongst the East-Asian countries.
