Small pelagic fisheries, now on the verge of collapse, are the main source of protein for coastal communities in Ghana. We link results from stock assessments and DNA studies of Sardinella stocks to complementary studies on improved catch preservation through community engagement, educational initiatives, value chain analyses, and more. Such links will inform policy development that is inclusive, receives broad community support and can be sustained over time.
