Effective Engagement Between Science and the Law

Scientists are increasingly called upon to testify about technical issues in courts of law. Yet even when willing to share their expertise, unfamiliarity with the legal terrain may leave scientists unprepared to communicate scientific and technical knowledge to judges and juries. Shari Diamond will address the importance of involving scientists in the legal system and discuss insights from an American Academy of Arts and Sciences study that examines the barriers to effective engagement.
