Role of Implicit Bias and Stereotype Threat in Underrepresentation in STEM

The consequences of implicit bias and stereotype threat in recruitment and retention in STEM at all levels is old news to psychologists and other social scientists. However, “hard scientists” have to slow to accept these findings. While it is difficult to change human behavior resulting from the way we think, much more progress might be made if the knowledge and data available were incorporated into practice.
