Ecological Impacts of the Deepwater Horixon and Ixtoc-I Marine Blowouts

This presentation will review the ecological impacts and ongoing monitoring programs in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon event. Community structure and dynamics of fish communities will be contrasted with those in the southern Gulf location of the IXTOC-I blowout in 1979-1980. Short- and long-term ecological impacts, at multiple trophic levels will be summarized from government, academic and private research efforts.
