Rapid pathogen genome sequencing and the sharing of such data is becoming a cornerstone to infection control, outbreak intervention and for use in therapy development. In this talk I will describe with examples the methods and requirements for rapid pathogen sequencing and how it can be integrated into healthcare system diagnostics for use in pathogen surveillance and rapid responses to control outbreaks.
