Using the Unique Eclipse Circumstances to Engage Students

Friday, February 17, 2017: 10:00 AM-11:30 AM
Room 304 (Hynes Convention Center)
Charles Fulco, Independent Science Consultant, Sandisfield, MA
My session discusses how teachers can use appropriate standards-based lessons and activities to prepare students for learning about eclipses, and how to safely observe and record the 2017 U.S. total solar eclipse. An education kit with lesson plans and activities, helpful resources, links, and solar glasses will be distributed to all attendees. Weather-permitting, the presentation will include a brief outdoor solar observing session, including a demonstration of proper solar glasses use and views of the Sun through a solar telescope.
