I will chart how the creation of the Science Agora annual exchange is transforming public engagement policy. Gathering 10,000 scientists, business people, civil servants, policy-makers, media, students and the public, we have created a vibrant inter-change of ideas. Post Fukushima, much thought has gone into living with risk and co-designing the future direction of Japanese science with society. We are also fostering greater links between like-minded ‘engagement entrepreneurs’, thus bringing our global village of science conferencing ideas and siblings closer together.
