The Hopi people are descendants of ancient agrarian societies. This presentation will provide and overview of the role of agriculture as a foundation for the Hopi culture and the challenges presented by climate change and water scarcity. Physical attributes of the land and current socioeconomic trends on the Hopi Reservation will be described including the use of dryland farming practices for ceremonial practices, sustenance and trade.
