During outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases, new vaccines and treatments could often make a difference in morbidity and mortality and the duration of the outbreak. Accelerating the path to licensure poses numerous challenges for the regulatoty agencies. Here we consider some of the option available and lessons learned from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa the future.
