Transport is a sector that’s driven by information, where data is used for both short-term decisions (e.g. helping the public to decide how and when to travel) and for designing and evaluating longer-term strategic policies. The widespread adoption of pervasive technologies (such as Internet-enabled mobile devices) and social media is presenting new possibilities for both research and policy. This talk will explore the role that information and communications technology (ICT) plays in transport and its potential for supporting the development of sustainable transport policy.
