The Dynamic Solar System

Sunday, 15 February 2015: 1:30 PM-4:30 PM
Room 220B (San Jose Convention Center)
Heidi Hammel, Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Washington, DC
Interplanetary spacecraft provided the first close-up views of planets in our solar system. But those planets large enough to have thick atmospheres provide an ever-changing kaleidoscope of dramatic changes, some linked to their seasons. Dr. Hammel will discuss Hubble imaging of solar system activity like aurorae and colliding asteroids.
