The Importance of Transparency to Journalism and Democracy

I will discuss the implications for journalists of efforts to narrow public records laws, and why it's important to make sure reporters still have access to much of the information and records produced at public universities. From a media perspective, we need to be very careful to ensure that we still maintain high levels of accountability and transparency when it comes to how government money is spent and how government institutions (including public universities) are run.
