Federal entities are tasked with assessing the strength of evidence for particular chemical exposures and health outcomes. The selection and evaluation of studies are integral to the assessment process and ca be a source of great debate. Recent efforts to incorporate systematic review approaches, if done appropriately, should result in greater transparency and understanding of conclusions made, and facilitate efficient completion of assessments needed to set policies to protect public health.
