Patients increasingly use the internet to be better informed about the drugs that they ingest. Internet searches are also commonly used to investigate unexpected drug reactions. Mining of search logs can be used to discover off target drug effects, drug-drug interactions, and differences in drug effects across populations. This presentation will describe the utility of these approaches and discuss potential opportunities for mining internet search data for drug phenotypes.
