Visualizing Cosmological Simulations

Saturday, 14 February 2015: 8:00 AM-9:30 AM
Room 210AB (San Jose Convention Center)
Ralf Kaehler,Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, Menlo Park, CA
Visualizations from Ralf Kaehler and his colleagues are based on large-scale computer simulations that model complex astrophysical and cosmological processes, ranging from the formation of the first stars and galaxies to the motion of dark matter. In his presentation, Kaehler will describe the role of scientific visualization in cosmological research, explain how he produces the visualizations and show examples of his team's work.
