Dr Zdenka Willis, Director of the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), will speak to the importance of incorporating data from electronic tags attached to marine animals into both the national IOOS and the international Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS). Data from these animals are transforming the way scientists study our waters and opening up new data sources that will allow information to be provided more readily to the state and federal officials who need it most.
