New Partnerships for Innovations in Global Health

The presentation will describe the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's new directions in their research and development programme for global health. Quality manufacturing and regulatory pathways have been taken up as priority areas for delivering global health innovations to those in need. To that end the Gates Foundation is establishing two new regional offices in Africa, in Ethiopia and Nigeria in addition to South Africa. In order to assure a greater impact in the fight against poverty-related diseases, the Gates foundation also engaging in new partnerships with major public funders and pharmaceutical companies to align resources on joint activities, in particular with regard to both preclinical and late stage clinical trials in humans.
