Access to safe and secure supplies of drinking water is a fundamental right and the University of Alberta Water Initiative is committed to advancing research and training towards solving the world’s water problems. One of the principal foci of the University of Alberta Water Initiative is to tackle the problems of both delivery of drinking water and of sanitary water treatment in small and remote communities.  These types of communities have specific and unique challenges for production of drinking water including ensuring a safe infrastructure, monitoring for public and environmental health protection, and providing these services on an economically feasible scale.  In this talk, I will highlight the innovative research efforts underway at the University of Alberta to deliver safe and secure water for all.
