Field Experiments in Political Science: An Overview of Advances

The past 15 years has witnessed a dramatic increase in the number and sophistication of randomized experiments conducted in real-world political settings.  Summarizing research in the domains of pro-social behavior, institutional design, accountability and governance, communication and persuasion, and discrimination, I highlight both substantive and methodological contributions.  I conclude by calling attention to emerging design ideas and untapped research opportunities.
