This presentation will address the problem in Africa of overemphasis of investment in scientific and technological development to achieve maximum agricultural output while ignoring knowledge development and distribution that takes into account local complexities in environmental and social factors. Targeted investment strategies to achieve the most effective use of agricultural knowledge, science and technology to meet African local food and economic needs will be discussed.
