This presentation will highlight the history, vision, mission and principal goals of a newly formed Network for Science, Engineering, Arts and Design (NSEAD), supported by the National Science Foundation. The NSEAD will catalyze formation of a network that includes innovative methods for connecting and supporting the research community across academia, non-profit organizations, industry, and funders. In addition, the presentation will engage audience and participants by highlighting its key initiatives planned for the first few years including white papers for policy advocacy and web and in-person events to bring attention to the challenges and possibilities of such collaborations. The specific ways in which the network's objectives intersect with those of the other similar initiatives in the nation will also be explored.
