he Indian Government and international agencies invested $50 million in 2009 to establish the OSDD initiative to foster innovation in tuberculosis which is responsible for significant mortality in India. The session will describe the process-driven manner by which over 3,500 volunteers from 130 countries used computer-based methods in an open source format to successfully annotate the M. tuberculosis genome in 4 months and identify novel drug targets with pooled compound screening libraries.
