Agri-food commodity projections are a complex business. This presentation gives an insight into the methodologies of short-term forecasts and medium-term projections, their diverging aims and the importance of a careful and knowledgeable interpretation. The lack of data, their asymmetric availability or the misinterpretation of outlook results can be misleading for policy decisions and amplify, jointly with speculation, the effects on global food markets.
