Investments in power capacities and infrastructure last for decades. Understanding where to build renewable energy installations is dependent on our understanding of the strength, consistency and predictability of winds, solar radiation, tides, and other forms of energy. As our scientific understanding of renewable energy develops, this must be merged with practical considerations to determine feasibility for development. Proper analyses lowers the market risks and attracts investment.
