The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) offers potential opportunities to address environmental and health impacts of solid-fuel cookstoves, via global carbon financing. We conducted a randomized intervention trial as part of a CDM-funded stove change-out in rural India, and investigated health and air pollution impacts. Here, we explore options for robust verification of community-scale changes in emissions and in emission factors for projects funded via CDM or other global carbon financing.
