This talk will explore social, political and ecological aspects of a transformation in governance of Chile's coastal marine resources. The role of scientific knowledge, demonstration-scale experimental trials and windows of opportunity are highlighted. Current research and learning platforms which have identified new pathways with the potential of generating future transformations in governance within Chile's interconnected social-ecological systems are presented providing insights into how multi-scale governance could be further developed.
