Unanticipated delays and setbacks can lead to discouragement, frustration, and burnout among doctoral students. This workshop is designed to help graduate students and postdocs : clarify barriers to research progress and timely progression through graduate school; understand the issues related to gender, psychology, and productivity in male-dominated disciplines, and ; strengthen communication, time-management, goal-setting, and problem-solving skills. Workshop attendees will participate in components of a resilience-building program that offers skills and strategies to stay motivated and on track in the competitive and often “chilly” male-dominated doctoral programs in science and engineering.
