Vaughan Turekian , AAAS Center for Science Diplomacy, Washington, DC
Dr Turekian will respond by outlining how US scientists and policymakers are responding to some of the developments outlined in Professor Llewellyn-Smith's talk, and in particular how they are engaging with some of the new and emerging scientific powers on the global stage. He will discuss the need to capitalise on these changes to create a truly global scientific community through measures such as harmonising national funding systems, ethical norms, standards of conduct and intellectual property rules, and will explore how this might best be achieved.
