U.S. Federal Budget for Research and Development

Saturday, February 18, 2017: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM
Room 208 (Hynes Convention Center)
For more than 40 years, AAAS has been providing timely, comprehensive, and independent analyses of U.S. federal research and development (R&D) funding trends through its R&D Budget and Policy Program. Join the AAAS Office of Government Relations for a session drawing on these resources to discuss what we know and don’t know about the R&D budget for fiscal years 2017 and 2018, including details of the U.S. federal budgeting process. Historical trends in federal R&D spending within the broader industrial and international contexts will also be discussed, including a closer look at the Obama Administration’s efforts. The suite of resources available through the AAAS R&D Budget and Policy Program will be shared with attendees.
Coordinator:
Josh Shiode, AAAS Office of Government Relations
