Who’s Your Audience?

Communicating Science
Thursday, February 16, 2017: 9:00 AM-10:30 AM
Ballroom A (Hynes Convention Center)
While audience data are available and there are many tools for understanding and connecting with public audiences, science communication plans are often developed and implemented by communities of professionals without the direct input of these audiences. With the growth of citizen science and stakeholder engagements, scientists are increasingly proactive in their approaches to involving the public in the formative stages of science engagement efforts and planning. How can scientists more effectively work with public audiences to provide science communication experiences that are mutually productive and beneficial? This session will bridge theory and practice, providing big ideas and practical tips.
