Statistics is a broad discipline, whose practitioners strive to improve scientific methods, mechanisms, and outputs. The American Statistical Association has Ethical Guidelines for Professional Practice, “to help statistics practitioners make decisions ethically and communicate their rationale (s) honestly”. These Guidelines help those whose primary occupation is statistics and others who use statistical methods in their professional work can act to increase the value of science to society.
