In the course of writing its report, Genetically Engineered Crops: Experiences and Prospects, the committee heard from a wide variety of opinions on genetically engineered (GE) crops and foods. This presentation will place the committee’s approach in the broader context of public engagement with science and public opinion dynamics related to controversial technologies. The presentation will highlight the steps that were taken to ensure broad communication of the report and discuss media coverage of the Committee’s findings.
