CRISPR: A Game-Changer for Gene Editing

Friday, February 17, 2017: 1:00 PM-2:30 PM
Room 302 (Hynes Convention Center)
Emmanuelle Charpentier, Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology, Berlin, Germany
The discovery of the CRISPR-Cas9 system by Professors Charpentier and Doudna has revolutionized the possibilities which gene editing offers, in ways we can only begin to imagine. Prof Charpentier has received several prestigious awards and was listed as one of the 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine. Her presentation will discuss how a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of regulation in bacterial pathogens can lead into novel biotechnological and biomedical applications.
