The Evolution of Science Advice in Canada: An Academy Perspective

National academies throughout the world have a long history of advising government. Several modes of advice - from briefs, to consensus panels and standing committees - have influenced important decisions in Canada. New mechanisms, to deliver faster and more timely advice are being pioneered in order to ensure that advice remains relevant and independent. This talk will elaborate on the various academy mechanisms that are being used in Canada to ensure independent, evidence-based advice.
