Working with Congress: Communicating in Difficult Fiscal Times

Saturday, February 13, 2016: 2:15 PM-3:15 PM
Washington 1 (Marriott Wardman Park)
The U.S. political agenda is dominated by the fiscal deficit, an issue with significant ramifications for the research community. The White House and the new Congress will continue to debate the federal deficit and the impact of cuts from the 2013 budget sequestration. As a result, scientists and engineers need to be more engaged with lawmakers and be more effective communicators during these interactions. This workshop provides scientists with an opportunity to role-play meeting with a Member of Congress and congressional staff on a current topic before Congress.
