Expanding Potential: Overcoming Challenges of Underrepresented STEM Groups

Sunday, February 14, 2016: 11:45 AM-12:45 PM
Washington 1 (Marriott Wardman Park)
Underrepresented groups in STEM face unique challenges as they progress through their careers. Implicit bias, stereotype threat, and micro-aggressions harm workplace inclusivity and result in attrition of underrepresented groups. This workshop describes a number of novel programs developed in partnership with Synberc to promote inclusion and diversity within the STEM community, with particular emphasis on how these programs can be adapted for use in your own organization or community.
