The World Health Organization’s Study on global AGEing and adult health (SAGE) is a longitudinal study that addresses the gap in reliable data and scientific knowledge in low- and middle-income countries. Nationally representative samples are drawn from China, Ghana, India, Mexico, Russia and South Africa. Instruments compatible with ageing studies in high-income countries measure health, well-being and quality of life. Summary results will set the stage for examining global health and ageing.
