Refugee Resettlement and the Geopolitics of Trauma

This talk presents findings from fieldwork in Turkey with organizations involved in the protection, mental health treatment, and resettlement of Iraqis (and other refugees) in the U.S. Our interviews show how trauma and PTSD are reinforced in protracted refugee situations that produce new vulnerabilities for refugees and new challenges for those involved in providing care and protection.
