Boundary Work on Anti-Science: A View from the Climate War

Casting doubt on the science behind anthropogenic climate change is often called "anti-science," a term that is now effectively an epithet that is often used in the same careless way American conservatives throw around the word "communist." However, one can accept the veracity of knowledge while also choosing not to act on that knowledge. Decisions to act, or not, are ethical and moral in nature, not scientific. This talk will illuminate the importance of retaining space for policy disagreement.
